ItsAGoal with a new Academy in Portugal

Academies has the premises to make a team live longer in FID or real life, in Portugal there isn’t much academy and probably that explains why teams like SFB ended.
One of the best known on FIDWorld is It’s a goal, for its team as for its academies.
Today we went to talk with the man in charge of the Franchise/Academy here in Portugal.
John Jameson and Harry Redknapp are on the helm of this academy on POR2B, the team is currently known as Invicta FC.

Centro Desportivo - What is the main concept of the Academies?
John Jameson -  We're primarily looking towards the future with both our Portugal 2B academy, which will service our Portugal 1A club, and the Italy 2A academy, which will service our England 1A club.  Not all of the players tabbed for future selection with these senior clubs play in the respective academies, because we've found it impossible to find a single timeslot that works for all the respective users, but it's much better than having them spread about the game randomly.
After the introduction of the new training curve, and the attribute declines that begin at age 25 we realized a time would come when the current generation of players were no longer up to the rigorous demands of play in what's rapidly become 2 of the best competitions in the entire game.  Rather than scramble looking for a solution when that time comes, we've developed a plan to replenish both squads as seamlessly as possible.
Unlike most of the so-called academies in the game, we are committed to the development of these characters.  We don't bring in older players so that the squad can compete at a higher level, Italy 2A and Portugal 2B titles mean very little in the greater scheme of things.  This means that for everything from wages to playing time, the players tabbed for future senior club selection are given first priority.

CD - This academy on POR2B is for players that will join POR1A?
JJ -   Mostly, but like I've said, the time slot doesn't work for all of the users so there are a few players currently in the squad that aren't part of the Portugal 1A plans at the moment.  Things always change, however, so it never hurts to have other players under the IAG umbrella that are familiar with the 'family' and can fill any gaps that emerge, or that can help us further our ambitions elsewhere.

CD - Do you think all teams should have an Academy?
JJ - That’s a tricky question.  On one hand, do I think every team needs an academy?  Yes, because one must always have an eye towards the future.  We've seen previously dominant teams lose their place among their peers because they couldn't replace players, and I have a feeling that when the current crop of 25-28 years olds that dominate Portugal and England reach the age of precipitous decline there will be many teams scrambling just to field a competitive squad to maintain their 1A status.
On the other hand, do I think most teams are capable of an academy?  No, not from what I've seen.  Our community is very tight knit, and because long term planning is something required on the game we all come from (www.itsagoal.com) we're uniquely predisposed to keeping an eye on the long term future.  We're also able to plan for these events 6-7 seasons from now, because we can be extremely confident of everyone who will be around to fulfill their end of the plan.  Because we're so strongly connected, we know that we won't abandon each other to chase higher wages somewhere else and that we'll remain together flying the IAG flag.

CD - One of the best known Franchise/Academy is It's a Goal, what you think is the reason of this success?
JJ - I’ve taken to referring to us as a family, the IAG family, because in many ways that's what we are.  We're bonded by a common love for the greatest football management sim in the game, itsagoal.com (and FREE!), and are always mindful of the reason we washed up on these shores in the first place- namely to further the name and success of itsagoal.com.
Like all families we have our disputes, but we remain tethered together despite them.  We've become quite close through our shared experiences and struggles, and I proudly name these funny little internet personalities as friends.  In fact, we probably spend more time on our teamspeak server talking about anything else but FID and IAG.
Other than the true feeling of community and belonging to something greater than yourself, I think our preparation is second to none.  We don't always show it, but our managers (TopGun2 and Enovential) work extremely hard to ensure that we have detailed information on the opponents and to determine a specific tactical approach for each game.  Likewise, everyone in the group chips in with their advice and insight into the game and tactics.  Our forum in England holds a massive amount of information and ideas, and we're always looking for new innovations in how to approach everything from tactics to training to squad makeup.
Community, preparation, and planning.  I'd say that sums up what it really means to be IAG quite well.

CD - Who can join the Academy?
JJ - Priority is given to the players tabbed for future senior team selection.  For the positions we're lacking due to time slot conflicts, second priority is given to other users from IAG.  Outside of those, we look to ancillary FIDers that we have a relationship with from previous other endeavors and teams.
We aren't a closed shop, though.  We all enjoy meeting and playing with other users, and will welcome all interest in participating in our reaching of our goals.  Recruiting isn't something that we're really into, we're really more interested in people who come to us wanting to be a part of what we have going rather than trying to convince someone to join us.

CD - If one of our readers wants to be part of the Academy, what should they do?
JJ -    The first thing they should do is head over to www.itsagoal.com and start enjoying the greatest (and FREE!) football management sim on the internet!  Once you get there, let myself or TopGun2 know that you've taken the plunge and are enjoying the dulcet green hues and robust, friendly, and fun forums.  There may not be an immediate opening with one of our FID teams, but once you're in the community you really are part of the family.  We'll do everything we can to help you find the success that you're looking for, and whenever possible we'll get you into the IAG setup.
And who knows, maybe you could help us further our ambitions in FID by creating a whole new branch of the IAG family.  Our one true goal is to spread the message about itsagoal.com throughout the world, and there are a lot of untapped leagues out there that we aren't playing in yet!
World domination, that's not so much to ask, is it?
