The 4th team with a chance to be champions this season is Setemares, even thou the chances of that happening are quite narrow (they must win Porto Eclipse and wait for the other 3 contenders to lose their matches), they started strong on the season, getting wins after wins and positioning themself on the 1st position early on the season but things got out of control later and they lost some crucial matches. we talked with Third Rate Les the manager of the team.
Your team started the season as favourites, and now you are dependable of others to become champions. Tell us how the season went for your team.
To be honest, we never thought of ourselves as favourites, or even contenders, and are flattered to have been thought of as favourites. As we changed the majority of our attacking players at the start of this season, we knew we would be in for a season of transition whilst the chemistry penalty wore off.
We set the pace in the first half of the season, and I'm very proud of the team that we took half the season before we even conceded a goal. Unfortunately, we couldn't keep up the same level in the second half, and whilst disappointed to have thrown it away a little, we've learnt how to deal with it for next season. We got a couple of the bot teams at the wrong time, when people could be bothered. We also found, thanks to the stupid fixture computer, that we were playing against teams who had just hit maximum confidence after playing a bot team. Certainly the linear nature of the fixtures is something the admin team need to look at, and quite frankly should have looked at well before now.
We also found that some teams - I won't name names - found that the only way to try and stop us was to kick to the corner, and try and score after they'd sent us to sleep. Some teams got lucky with us and scored with their only shot of the two games against us. But fair play and applause to Mech Orange - who turned up for one game this season...unfortunately against us... and Portus Cale who had a decent half where we were bloody awful.
In the UFIC we reached the last eight, and with a bit more help in arranging the fixture would probably have won that too. Very proud of the guys, it's unfair to ask the team to give their Saturdays up as well as the other days for this.
What you think will happen on the last round of POR1A?
I think Garitinho will win the league. They can look after our league title until the end of next season :) Unlucky for Portus, but they should be proud of what they've done this season.
