During the regular and extra time there were no goals on the match. We talked with Racing Momentum’s manager Kim Taeyeon about the Portuguese League team.
“Before the match I was quite upset about (a possible) drawing Garitinho. As I had mentioned before the game, there were 3 teams I didn't want to meet: Juventus Gent, HISPANIA & Garitinho.
During the match, they've shown us why I didn't want to draw them. They play in a similar style as Fortuna used to do, and that is very hard to beat if you have 5 players with high Chemistry Penalty like we have. If we'd meet them in a later stage, I would be confident to win, but first qualification round was too early to meet such a great team.” Said the manager after the match
Centro Desportivo - What are the differences between before and after the match of what you expected from Garitinho?
Kim Taeyeon - The differences between before and after the match, well I don't really see any differences, they played as I thought they'd play, and that's how they're at their strongest. They took us on our weak spot. And kept the ball on our side of the field that way. Our biggest chance, a direct shot to an open goal, was shortened, so the keeper could still save it, and then it goes to penalties, which is pure lottery.
Garitinho did what they could and it paid off, so congratulations to them, they've played smart, and had the luck on their side at the most important moments (that shortened shot & the penalties)
I wish them a lot of luck in the future of the UFCL, and their national league of course. And who knows, maybe we'll meet again next season ;)
