[SFB] Long balls dismistifyed

Saturday is Champions League day in FID and today at 8h45 in the morning Sport Funchal e Benfica played against HISPANIA.

We are on the Quarter Finals and having a big chance to have a semifinal between 2 Portuguese League teams, but HISPANIA luck got the way with it.

8:45am and Sport Funchal e Benfica stadium has a decent turnout with a lot of supporters for the Spanish side.

The away team kicks of the match and as soon as the home team gets the ball they tried to attack. On minute 16^th of the match Lambe Mos position’s himself on the left side of the field to receive a pass and he sends it to 27th Dealers that launch an attack for Luís Miguel Silva. The Portuguese striker gets the ball but his shot didn’t scare anyone as he still was very far from the box.

On minute 22 Legolin JGR tries to tack down André Queiroz and misses, that leaves the WF playing as SM free to run to the box and pass the ball to Luís Miguel Silva that shots but kills a pigeon instead. 3 minutes later the Portuguese team does a tactical change and swap sides of André Queiroz and Lambe Mos.

“That’s one of our tactics; we do it when we think we should.” Confessed Tiago Madeira “No more explanation on team tactics, the opponents can be reading :P” dodged the Portuguese Manager.

About this tactical change the Spanish manager said “They wanted to escape from our fresh SD, understandable but useless.”

 The Spanish CF’s were constantly offside and Yayo Nemesio Niño considered that tactical move when asked in the Press conference after the match:

Centro Desportivo -  Your teams CFs were constantly  offside. SFB defense was Smarter?

YNN - No. It was a tactic.

On minute 32, Dário Silva gets to the corner the box and makes a high pass to Luís Fonte on the center midfield and he opens up to the right side for Lambe Mos, the Portuguese SM dribbles but loses the ball. 6 minutes later Steven Borges sends a high ball leaving Lambe Mos on the center midfield to pass to the left side for André Queiroz but the ball gets intercepted.

The half time was near and in minute 42 HISPANIA finally has a chance to score but Dário Silva saves the day.

On second half the home team started the same way as they were playing the 1st half but on mnute 53, HISPANIA does an attack and thank god Marco Panzer missed that shot.

3 minutes later a long pass from Dário Silva to Luís Miguel Silva opens a new chance to pass to semifinals, the Portuguese CF gives to the left to 27th Dealers gand the Portuguese ACM sends it more to the left to André Queiroz that dribbles to the deep field but Miguel Cabrerizo tackle down and ct the attack effect with ease.

On minute 76 another tactical try with both SM n same side (Left), Steven Borges passes to 27th Dealers that sees Lambe Mos sopen and sends him the ball, the Portuguese SM in his known style dribbles away but get caught by the Spanish SD Miguel Cabrerizo.

On OverTime, the Portuguese team has another chance to attack and on after a freekick 27th Dealers shoots to the net but Unai Takeda saves it with ease. 1 minutes to 100 Lambe Mos sees Luís Fonte on the left side completely free and passes to him but Luís Fonte shoots very badly.

The time was getting near the end and HISPANIA best chances comes up, 1st on minute 103 when Joham Robl receives the ball and enters on the box but in the last minute instead of shooting he passes back to Gonzalo Chuecos and the ball gets intercepted.

Next chance has Gonzalo Chuecos as protagonist but the shot is saved by the Portuguese GK Dário Silva.

“It was not a hard match. They almost didn´t shoot on goal. We were unable to make any danger in their side and Benfica´s keeper performed a great match.” Analyzed the Spanish Manager in the end of the match.

 On the penalties shot, the away team got the advantage as 4 Portuguese Players missed to score by shooting on the center of the net and getting easly saved by the Spanish keeper.

“The penalties weren’t to be in the center of the net but we got 3 one stars in 4 penalties so the shoots didn’t end like we wanted to.” Said the Portuguese Manager

“21's advices were fundamental. We were very lucky, our shooters 4-5 (Gallahad and Kempes were frightened with the pressure)” Said Yayo Nemesio Niño after winning the match.

The Portuguese team played a lot with long balls and on the stadium a lot of people were wondering if the last match of the National Champions on the league was a test for today’s match because they also played a lot with long balls on it.

“No, we don’t start any match with fear of opponent and aiming to throw long balls, we use it when we think we can get an advantage from it, like our SM being much more quicker then the SD or so.” Explained Tiago Madeira
