Centro Desportivo - What is your real name?
Gordon Banks - Raf
CD - What you do in life?
GB -Business Finance / or IT when it suits me :D
CD - How old are you?
GB - 37
CD - Where do you live?
GB - Cambridge
GB - I know how to keep. No seriously, we've played together for a few teams now, for a long time, he picks my brain on keeping, he entertains me in return lol
CD - You come as a backup, yet you are older than Rene. You wish to stay as backup?
GB - Banks is retired and on the beach. he will only be used in exceptional circumstances.
CD - What do you expect from your new team?
GB -Well the guys in this team have been together for a long time I have had my SM with this group since he was born (re: Giggs). First at DDS in 2A, then now here, at Setemares.
CD - Your previous team was The Three Lions and got 4th in the England league. What draw you to come to Portugal?
GB -Ultimately the time of the games suits us all here who have busy lives. I will miss the 3 Lions and the guys there for sure. Personal reasons and a life of hell the last 3 months made me reconsider whether it was worth spending so much time on FID, given the issues with the people who run the game..... my comments can be found in the forums.
CD - In all the teams you played, which where the most fun to play in?
GB - No comment lol. Well probably the Battrick Badgers where Banks started and I started in FID, as we were a bunch of guys from another game so the team spirit was already there. Many of the team here at Setemares are from that original club. But I enjoyed all my clubs, apart from 1 who shall remain nameless.....
CD - Which was the best coach that you played with?
GB - Well for gross effort and stupid amounts of tactics to help people learn how to play, and have fun, and keep training, me. lol. I probably put too much effort in....Banks was the effective coach at the Badgers, after a series of manager departures. Otherwise I have enjoyed all the manager's contrasting styles, it all depends on the enthusiasm of the players, and there was a lot of raw enthusiasm at times at the Badgers. It's not easy being the coach, if your players hate to lose, and you hate to lose.
CD - What do you think about Portuguese League?
GB - I'm still here with Giggs - it's the league I enjoy the style of play the most, although it does get boring with some bot teams and certain styles of play employed to kill the game for 70 mins. But then they are playing to win (hardcore) because the ME is weak.
GB - If Eng 1A were at 10pm UK time, or later, it would be my preferred option - for competition and being able to understand everyone!
CD - How did you discovered FID?
GB - Through another game. I made a keeper to help out, i never thought I would last long....
CD - Why did you choose to be a GK?
GB - A mistake. When you are a noob, you make what your team needs, not what is most fun to play.
CD - What is the funniest thing that happened in FID that you witnessed?
I guess it's not funny if it's your own team messing u right :D We've had more than one classic moment, Will shall remain nameless.....ooooopppps (over the bar from 1 mm out)
CD – errrr…. Wait! Damm, well, see you soon with another interview (get a beer for me!)
